The Concert and Congress Hall
This is a very new attraction to arrive in Uppsala and is next to the Vaksala Square. The Concert and Congress Hall opened at the end of 2007 and has a number of concert halls, exhibition space and loads of entertainment. It is a very glamorous and unusual modern building - the result of a design competition. The main hall can accommodation more than 1,000 people seated. There are 8 floors and we went to the top to check out the views. There is an informal restaurant on the ground floor, near to the main reception area.

Uppsala Castle
The city castle is the number one attraction and it is usually the first place that people visit. It dates from the 16th century and was once the residence of King Gustavus Vasa. Nowadays the governor lives here and visitors are able to see some of the rooms, including the art collection. Don't be expecting it to look like some kind of fairytale castle though, its really more like a very bland palace, and a pink one at that!

Dannemora - a good day trip
If you head around 25 miles north then you will find the town of Dannemora. Tourists from Uppsala often come here for a day trip, and also to nearby Osterbybruk. Dannemora has a long mining heritage and you can even go for a ride down the mine shaft, in a lift. Very dark, damp, cold and fun. Something to talk about afterwards.
